Special
thanks to Eoin McAuley (EM) for submitting
the Irish Uilleann* pipes fingering chart. McAuley comments:
The
Irish Uilleann Pipes are bellows-driven bagpipes using a double reed. The
pipes are capable of two octaves, but the number of semitones available is limited [for keyless models].
The normal Uilleann pipes play in the key of D, although many older sets play
in lower keys such as C and Bb. The fingering is a "closed" system,
which means that as many holes are kept covered as possible at all times, as well
as the pipe end hole.
*Uilleann
is pronounced "ill-en."
